Offered only through NEFS, this line of superfine merino batts is still largely undiscovered to many felters who use only roving, but word is spreading fast! Because the merino wool is chopped short in the batt preparation, it's simply the fastest felting wool we know of. And because the short fibers result in a tight, super-smooth 17 micron finish, it's the wool of choice for experienced designers and felt jewelry makers who dislike "hairy jewelry syndrome".
One lb. is approximately 3' x 4' (1 x 1.2 meters). Great choice for kids and kits too because it's foolproof. Color-coordinated with our exciting new Strata Batts™ line.
Note: One of the best features about Short Fiber Merino Batts is that it's processed in a natural and environmentally-friendly way. As an uncarbonized wool, it's not subjected to vegetation vaporization treatments with acid and heat. Because of this natural processing, the wool may contain tiny bits of vegetation which are easily ignored during felting and simply brushed out at the end for a smooth finish. Give this superfine wool a try and enjoy the results!
